I just downloaded this app today and it works great! The only two things I'd long for are a permanent license and a simple update. The last time it was updated was 8 months ago. Update what? i'm not sure. I just want to make sure this app stays alive :)
  • YOU NEED THIS BREVETO WRITING APP

By this is my Spahr Review
Very nice writing app. Most professional app I've ever worked with; that's for sure. And that's just from its free version. Just imagine how much more would advance my writing aspirations if I'd take it to the next level by going Pro. Some of us might need a miracle in order to upgrade to the Pro addition. But trust me when I say, you will be glad you at least tried the Free version. I know for me, while I very much like what I have to work with now; I'd very much like to level up to Pro. By the way, For the not-so-advanced wordsmiths; this Breveto writing app will most definitely level up your intelligence bar since it also sports a built-in Dictionary Highly Specific Strategic Formating for added support, along with a library style Sidebar to keep all your writings organized and at the ready for any revision/edits plus a Share button for posting to your personal media. All this plus Settings to your personal requirements in the Free-mode(?) Just imagine how much more is available in Pro-mode to enhance your writing productivities and widen your world; even ushuring you into a world of professionalism you could only dream of before. To be sure, you will most definitely find yourself pleasantly surprised as you engage with Breveto. I am very glad I discovered this Breveto writing app. The fact that Breveto also levels you up personally, by adding an integrated Dictionary Highly Specific Strategic Formating - is beyond what I can even put to words. That's how impressed I am with Breveto. And that's just in its Free-mode. So I can hardly wait till I'm able to take Breveto Pro. :0).

I'll echo the other reviews here. Breveto has a ton of potential. It rivals Ulysses for a clean, distraction-free, text-forward writing environment, with AI tools baked-in. Just what I was looking for! The only problem is that sync isn't working properly for me, even when selecting iCloud as a location (which the developer says is the most reliable). I have the app installed on two machines, but my files and locations are never in sync. I've tried closing/opening the apps, and re-installing, but changes made on one machine don't show up on the other. This is obviously a deal breaker, as it could lead to data loss. That's why I'm giving it just 3 stars. I'm pulling for this app, tho. It could be so good!
  • Nice idea, but very limited implementation.

Nice idea and intuitive interface, but for my "files to be finally organized" I need a little more than an app the lets me import text and images. Not even video files can be imported and view in the app.
  • Potential Native Replacement for Obsidian

Amazing UX and some good features in initial release! Definitely one of the most intuitive writing apps in the Mac App Store. I mainly take STEM notes, so there are a few missing features that are keeping me from switching from Obsidian and buying pro: - LaTeX / Math Equation Support - Custom Fonts for Code Blocks / Inline Code - Favoriting / Bookmarking functionality to quickly get to notes - Internal Wikilinks to link between notes

Note: This notes app is very new as of mid-2023. Its already off to an AMAZING start! Breveto has some advanced features which 4 yr old notes apps typically lack: - Decent search functionality - Multi-window editing - Customizable the editor font to any style, size, line height - Embedded images - Fantastic themes - Excellent Pro pricing when compared to competitors - AI Writing assistance - Dictionary thats actually useful - Word/Character/Paragraph counts - Markdown writing - Multiple App icons to pick from (I like the Paper one) - Local notes storage to save notes in your existing folder systems. Or you can use iCloud to have them sync. Because it is so new, it is stil lacking: - iOS app (this is one of their top priorities) - Drawing / Handwriting support - Note linking - Tags or Color labels for organization - Advanced quick capture options (web clippers or widgets) - No Windows, Web or Android apps - No 3rd party integrations such as Notion, Todoist, Reminders, etc. - No customizable main dashboard or home page. Some notes apps are implementing this feautre, and it makes your notes feel more like a personalized extension of your life. - Canvas type functionality or Freeform/MindMaps integrations? To be fair most apps don't have this but some have recently implemented it such as Obsidian. Apples new Freeform is an example of a standalone app that does this. As an avid notes app user, I'm extremely excited to see where this goes. I have used notes apps such as Evernote, Apple Notes, OneNote, Bear, Notion, Obsidian, Nimbus.
  • Really Promising New Notes App!!!

I am blown away with how solid this app feels for its initial release. Has so many great settings options without feeling overwhelming. I love the style choices with the editor when it comes to the look of the component styles, such as headings, code blocks, list styles, images, etc. You also have the ability to fully design your own custom theme, which is fantastic. And all these options are available without sacrificing the writing experience. I mean the code blocks could use some work when it comes to tab sizing and overall formatting, but overall, just a really nicely built app, and I feel super optimistic for its future! I would love the ability in the future to be able to share a doc through a public link. I often times have to share information to colleagues or friends, and I prefer to do this through docs like I can with Craft or Notion. Would just be a great feature to have. Killer job!!!

Found out about this app because I'm a longtime user of one of the developers other apps (ColorSlurp, which is also quite elegant). I'm not exactly what you'd call a power user whe it comes to taking notes, but I do need to be able to. Breveto strikes a nice balance between simplicity/ease of use and still having all the tools one would need and expect. I've used some apps that look nice and clean, but are also functionally too limited. Breveto has a slick UI, but the tools are still there. My only recommendations would be an integration with the menu bar for quick/always-on access... and for bullet items in lists to remain indented even when an item wraps to a second line (currently, text wrapping to a second line in a bullet list isn't indented — it's flush with the bullet itself). The latter might seem minor/petty, but as a designer, it's the kind of thing that irritates a little. Overall a great app, though — certainly no qualms about getting the Pro subscription.
  • Easy and Intuitive! Get it..

I've been looking for a note/writing app for some time that lets me custom sort my files for the project I'm working on. Not only is this a beautiful interface but it's also intuitive and easy to use. I love that it has Ai built into it. Super smart app. Get it!!!
  • So much potential, so much disappointment.

Love the themes, the UI is intuitive, and the many unique features seem quite useful... That is, if I could access a single one. I understand, you need to pay the folks that make such a refined, quality app, but putting the dictionary behind the paywall?.. A feature that's relatively common?.. Doesn't exactly encourage making a purchase folks...
